उत्तर प्रदेश फैजाबाद जिले के अकबरपुर ग्राम में 23 मार्च 1910 को राममनोहर लोहिया का जन्म हुआ था। पारिवारिक कारोबार लोहे का होने से लोहिया टाइटल चला आ रहा था सो राममनोहर भी लोहिया हुए। अपनी जन्मतिथि के बारे में लोहिया निश्चिन्त नहीं थे पर 23 मार्च को उन्होंने अपना जन्मदिन मान लिया था। हालांकि उस दिन लोहिया अपना जन्मदिन मनाते नहीं थे क्योंकि 23 मार्च को ही भारत के अमर शहीदों सरदार भगत सिंह; राजगुरु और सुखदेव को फांसी हुई थी।
